Irrigation SystemsSouthern Sprinkler was started in 1990 with the goal of providing high quality irrigation products and services in a professional manner for Charlotte NC area, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina and in Rock Hill SC area, York County and surrounding areas. We offer many different types of irrigation equipment: SprinklersFew factors we take into consideration when we are choosing a sprinkler: the size and the shape of the watered area, the soil type and the flow rate. A soil that contains a large amount of clay will retain water for long period of times, so it should be watered less than a soil which does not contain clay. The opposite are the sandy soils, which absorb water quickly and it drains out very fast. Our experts recommend to using Hunter’s line of sprinklers with rotary or spray heads. Rotary sprinklers are very efficient for medium sized gardens and lawns. Thanks to their jet adjustability they quickly water the lawn - depending on the size, the application rate can be different, generally 0.8-1 inch per hour. Spray sprinklers, with two different types of spray heads: pop-up and stand-up (or pipe-mounted), are great for small spaces that need a large water amount in a short time as sandy soils, or flat grounds. The application rate of spray systems is in average 1.5-1.7 inches per hour. Spray heads and rotary sprinklers should not be placed on the same irrigation areas because spray heads apply water at a much higher rate despite the fact that the area they cover is small. Timers or controllersAn irrigation timer or controller is used to automatically control the irrigation. Programmed properly, it will turn on and off the irrigation system at a given time (even when you are not at home), irrigate different areas for different time periods of the day, it will keep plants healthy and of course, save a lot of water. They can be electronic or electromechanical and have different features depending on the areas they will operate on. Our technicians use Hunter controller family because of their user friendly features and water-saving options; they are a good choice for most of the irrigation systems. Drip Irrigation It is the most efficient irrigation method, with 90% efficiency rate – compared with sprinkler systems which have only 75-85% - it practically loses no water. Drip systems only apply water where it is needed, very slowly, directly to the soil therefore they must be operated longer. It works well where other irrigation systems are inefficient, being adaptable to non-regular shaped fields or those with not-consistent soil texture. Easy to install and design, it can be very inexpensive too. Whatever irrigation system you need: for a front lawn, a garden, a small flowerbed or a specific area of your property, we will help you to choosing the right one making your task efficient and easy. For all the Hunter products provided by us, we offer solid one year instillation and labor warranty.
